The Great Heavenly Demon Sovereign – Chapter 191

As long as they couldn’t break through White Impermanence’s White Mist Wave, Zhuge Seoun and his group were trapped in a poisonous fog, awaiting death.

“Ugh.” Groans escaped the lips of all four simultaneously.

They had truly reached their limit. They could somehow block the relentless attacks, but the increasingly thick poisonous aura was clouding their minds.

‘It’s over, isn’t it?’ Zhuge Seoun bit his lip.

Until now, no problem had been beyond his strategies, but a single mistake had put not only his life but also those of his friends in peril. If they hadn’t brought Bu Eunseol and Hyeok Sojin, they would have faced a gruesome death without even a chance to resist.

‘It’s done…’ As his internal energy to fend off the poison ran dry, Zhuge Seoun loosened his grip on the Six Harmony Fan.

Just as he was about to close his eyes—

Whoosh!

A tremendous gust of wind surged, inflating his cheeks as if they might burst. Bu Eunseol had intervened, creating a whirlwind that sent the White Mist Wave soaring into the sky.

It was the third form of the Seven Fist Demon Forms, the Self-Oblivion Shatter.

“What is this?” White Impermanence exclaimed, eyes wide with shock.

How could a single punch from a human generate a wind like a dragon’s tornado?

“Now!” Zhuge Seoun snapped back to his senses as the White Mist Wave dissipated, swinging his Six Harmony Fan.

The others, too, poured all their strength into wielding their weapons.

‘These brats?’ White Impermanence was forced to directly counter the all-out assault from Zhuge Seoun’s group. But there was another problem. Bu Eunseol, having intervened, wasn’t joining the fight but instead stood glaring at him with piercing eyes.

‘Why is that guy just staring?’ Under Bu Eunseol’s intense gaze, White Impermanence’s focus wavered, and his techniques began to falter.

Thud!

After about thirty exchanges, Moyong Kyung’s sharp sword pierced White Impermanence’s lung, exploiting a gap.

Slash!

Zhuge Seoun’s Six Harmony Fan, swirling like the wind, deeply cut into his side.

Crack! The Hwangbo brothers’ Heavenly King’s Three Fists struck his Mingmen and Dazhui acupoints.

That was the end of White Impermanence, who had terrorized the Yangguang region for decades.

Though they were young prodigies, having his life ended by the three supreme techniques of the Zhuge, Moyong, and Hwangbo families was, perhaps, not an entirely ignoble death.

“Get out of my way!” Black Impermanence shouted, his hands and feet trembling and his heart pounding as he saw White Impermanence meet a gruesome end.

In truth, he had been looking for chances to escape several times. But Hyeok Sojin, drenched in blood and unleashing a myriad of supreme techniques, clung to him like a vengeful spirit.

“Get lost!” Black Impermanence roared in fury, unleashing the Black Vigor Demon Claw with a ferocious momentum, like spreading flames.

Swish swish!

Five streams of claw shadows pursued Hyeok Sojin relentlessly, no matter which direction he dodged. His clothes were torn, and blood streamed from his body. Yet Hyeok Sojin, eyes blazing, kept charging forward, tenaciously blocking Black Impermanence’s escape routes.

“You leech! I said get out!” Black Impermanence screamed, unleashing a desperate strike as Bu Eunseol and Zhuge Seoun’s group approached.

Pop pop pop pop!

The dark shadows of the Black Vigor Demon Claw erupted like beams of light, enveloping Hyeok Sojin’s body. In that instant, Black Impermanence swiftly turned to flee, choosing escape even at the cost of injury.

“Heh heh, where do you think you’re going?”

But that was his mistake.

Hyeok Sojin’s ultimate technique, the Divine Rift Demon Energy, could freely manipulate any force. Due to his sixth-stage mastery, he couldn’t redirect continuous attacks from a master like Black Impermanence.

But a single strike?

Pop pop pop pop!

As Hyeok Sojin gazed at the incoming Black Vigor Demon Claw, purple flames flared across his body. The flames enveloped the claw’s force in an instant, redirecting it. The sharp energy struck Black Impermanence’s back, from the Shenzhu acupoint to the Mingmen acupoint in a straight line.

“Argh!” Unable to execute his movement technique, Black Impermanence collapsed as his own Black Vigor Demon Claw struck him.

“Ugh.” He tried to rise urgently, but Hyeok Sojin was faster.

Click.

Hyeok Sojin pointed his sword at Black Impermanence’s throat and said solemnly, “In your next life, don’t become a public enemy of the martial world. Be born with white teeth.”

“What nonsense…” Black Impermanence’s words were cut off.

Hyeok Sojin had severed his carotid artery in one swift motion.

Click.

Sheathing his sword, Hyeok Sojin slumped his shoulders, letting out a heavy groan.

“Urgh.” His skin, torn by the Black Vigor Demon Claw, was in tatters, and his dantian ached as if it were being ripped apart from depleted energy.

But he straightened his shoulders. He had faced and defeated Black Impermanence, a Transcendent Realm master he could never have challenged before.

‘Of course, it would’ve been tough without Brother Bu watching…’ Looking up, he saw the sky brightening with the dawn.

The colors of the sky, slowly dispelling the darkness, reflected transparently in his eyes. For a moment, he felt a profound stillness, savoring the insights gained from a battle that had danced on the edge of death.

“Brother Bu, Brother Hyeok,” Zhuge Seoun cautiously approached, followed by the others, who couldn’t hide their awe.

The Hwangbo brothers and Moyong Kyung, who had previously looked down on Bu Eunseol and Hyeok Sojin, lowered their heads in shame.

“You two…” Zhuge Seoun began, his face filled with emotion.

“…!” Bu Eunseol’s heightened senses suddenly sounded an alarm.

He felt a sharp gaze, like a venomous snake slithering past his nape, carrying a deadly poison.

Whoosh!

In an instant, Bu Eunseol fully activated the instincts of the Beast Way. His pupils dilated, emitting a strange light as he sensed the presence of every living thing within eighty paces.

Flash!

Kicking off the ground, Bu Eunseol leaped eighty paces into the deep, dark forest. Within a single breath, he reached a towering tree and spread both hands.

From his sleeves, chilling, sharp throwing knives shot out.

Flash!

As the knives, like meteors streaking through the night sky, were drawn into the tree—

Clang clang!

With a strange metallic sound, the knives fell to the ground.

Swish.

A faint shadow appeared on the tree’s branches. It was a masked figure in eerie night-traveling clothes, blending into the darkness.

‘Those guys again.’ Bu Eunseol realized instantly.

How Gongsun Guryeong had evaded the pursuit of both righteous and demonic factions. How Black and White Impermanence had appeared alongside him at the same time.

“…!” The masked figure’s eyes glinted strangely as they fixed on the black sword strapped to Bu Eunseol’s back.

The gaze felt oddly familiar.

“Who are you?” Bu Eunseol asked.

Instead of answering, the masked figure lightly swept a long finger through the air.

Boom!

A tremendous shockwave accompanied an overwhelming pressure. It felt as if an immense internal energy was crushing his entire body.

‘Urgh!’ The pressure was so intense that his body bent, and his vision blurred. ‘This power…’ Bu Eunseol’s eyes widened. The energy the masked figure unleashed was comparable to that of Dan Wolhon, the leader of the Demon Gathering.

Bu Eunseol summoned all his strength, activating the Ban-geuk method.

Bang!

A red aura erupted from his body, soaring into the night sky. He stood tall, gazing up at the tree, but the masked figure had already vanished.

“Brother Bu!” Hyeok Sojin’s shout rang out, followed by Zhuge Seoun and the others catching up. “What happened?” Hyeok Sojin asked, landing from the air.

“There was a masked figure,” Bu Eunseol said quietly.

“Again?” Zhuge Seoun, landing beside him, approached. “What’s going on?”

“Someone was hiding here,” Bu Eunseol said, his gaze fixed on the towering tree.

Zhuge Seoun’s face paled as he looked up. This was a forest eighty paces from the battleground. Moreover, hadn’t Bu Eunseol expended his energy and stamina in a life-or-death fight?

To detect a hidden master at this distance…

‘His prowess is beyond our ability to even evaluate.’ This thought was shared not only by Zhuge Seoun but also by Moyong Kyung and the Hwangbo brothers.

“Brother Bu, we don’t know how to repay you for your help,” Zhuge Seoun said.

Bu Eunseol shook his head. “Don’t worry about it. I didn’t do it to help you.”

“What do you mean?”

“It was just a routine journey through the martial world.”

A journey through the martial world.

Many martial artists speak of such journeys and undertake them. Simply traveling the martial world could be called a journey. But the journey Bu Eunseol spoke of was facing trials as a martial artist, overcoming them without avoidance, and growing stronger.

It was a passionate path that the pampered heirs of the Eight Great Families could scarcely emulate.

“It’s just a fleeting encounter,” Bu Eunseol said, nodding calmly before turning to leave.

Moyong Kyung stepped forward, clasping his hands. “You two saved us, ignorant pups who didn’t know the terrors of the martial world. How can we let you go like this?”

Hwangbo Cheongyeong and Jegyeong also stepped forward, clasping their hands. “He’s right. Give us a chance to repay your kindness.”

Bu Eunseol shook his head. “If you feel indebted… forget it.” With a dry smile, he turned away. “That’s how you repay it.”

He immediately used his movement technique to vanish into the forest. Hyeok Sojin also prepared to follow, using his movement technique, but paused, looking down at his blood-soaked body with a wry expression.

“By the way…”

Zhuge Seoun and the others nodded eagerly. “Speak, benefactor.”

“Do you have any decent healing salve?” Hyeok Sojin asked.

The unexpected request left the group blinking at each other in bewilderment.

Zhuge Serin hurriedly pulled a yellow jar from her robes. “It’s White Binding Ointment from the Hanlim Medical House.”

“Thank you,” Hyeok Sojin said, clasping his hands as he took the jar. “If possible, keep our involvement in this a secret. It’s better for all of us.”

The group had witnessed the true prowess and ultimate techniques of Bu Eunseol and Hyeok Sojin. They had already realized the two were heirs of the Ten Demonic Sects.

“What does it matter?” Hwangbo Cheongyeong said, pounding his chest. “Even if our paths differ, aren’t there many heroes in the martial world who form bonds of brotherhood?”

Hwangbo Jegyeong nodded quickly. “Exactly. This is fate. Why not build a friendship moving forward?”

Hyeok Sojin gave a bitter smile.

They had dismissed him as insignificant before, but now, knowing his skill and status as an heir of the Ten Demonic Sects, their attitudes had shifted dramatically.

‘If I were to build a friendship, it’d be with the Zhuge siblings, not you.’

The Zhuge siblings were straightforward, treating them without prejudice and trusting only what they saw. Moreover, in the current state of the martial world, amicable exchanges between demonic and righteous factions were impossible. Hyeok Sojin had no desire to take on the risk of forming bonds with superficial people like the Hwangbo brothers.

“We have complicated circumstances…” Hyeok Sojin said with a faint smile, glancing at the Zhuge siblings and clasping his hands. “Let’s meet again if fate allows.”

Moyong Kyung and the Hwangbo brothers’ faces filled with embarrassment. Though he hadn’t said it outright, Hyeok Sojin’s gaze was fixed on the Zhuge siblings, clearly conveying his intent.

Flash!

He immediately used his movement technique, disappearing in the direction Bu Eunseol had gone.

“…” Except for the Zhuge siblings, the group watched with bitter expressions.

At the very least, they had learned a lesson from this.

They would never again judge people by appearances or reputation alone.

The prodigies of the Zhuge, Moyong, and Hwangbo families defeated the deranged doctor and Black and White Impermanence!

They were the Strategic Genius Zhuge Seoun, the Flash Flying Sword Moyong Kyung, and the third and youngest sons of the Hwangbo family, known as the Heaven-Collapsing Twin Fists!

For a time, the martial world buzzed with tales of the three great families.

The deranged doctor, who had massacred innocent civilians and young martial artists while posing as a healer, spreading terror. Black and White Impermanence, who had wrought havoc in the martial world for over twenty years after being expelled from the Ghost Gate.

That these great villains were defeated by mere prodigies of the three great families?

It must be a lie.

Even if nothing else, Black and White Impermanence were known to have reached the Transcendent Realm long ago. Five direct descendants, not even young masters, from the three great families defeating three Transcendent Realm masters was impossible, even in death.

It’s been confirmed they killed the deranged doctor and Black and White Impermanence!

However, various intelligence organizations in the martial world confirmed that Zhuge Seoun’s group had been hiding at the Wuzhong Mountain pass and had indeed killed them.

But their actions afterward were strange.

After defeating such formidable villains, Zhuge Seoun, Moyong Kyung, and the Hwangbo brothers returned to their families and, as if by agreement, entered seclusion.

Were they gravely injured?

Having achieved such a feat and poised to gain fame, why would the protagonists suddenly enter seclusion instead of stepping into the martial world?

Various speculations arose among intelligence organizations and sects, but no one provided a clear answer.

***

In a small tavern in a modest village.

“Hahaha,” Hyeok Sojin laughed heartily, downing a cup of liquor. “Gaining fame too great to handle has become a poison.”

Zhuge Seoun’s group didn’t even have the skill to defeat the deranged doctor alone. Yet rumors spread that they had taken down Black and White Impermanence as well. Having gained fame and prowess beyond their capacity, they could no longer appear in public.

“They played it smart, though. Seclusion, huh?” Hyeok Sojin chuckled.

In reality, they lacked such skill, so they entered seclusion to improve their abilities before reemerging.

“Anyway, Brother Bu’s choice was right. If we hadn’t gotten involved, we’d have missed a true journey through the martial world.”

Despite Hyeok Sojin’s chatter, Bu Eunseol silently sipped his drink.

Finally, after emptying the entire jug, Bu Eunseol stood. “Let’s move.”

“Where to?” Hyeok Sojin asked.

Bu Eunseol looked down at him with an impassive gaze. “Majeon.”
