Before Jincheon Hall, at the Small Training Ground
There, A-yeon, the legitimate successor of the Sword Pavilion, was wielding a treasured sword, its blade gleaming white.
Wi Cheongyeong circled her swiftly, searching for an opening. As the duel progressed, A-yeon’s sword techniques grew increasingly rapid, and in response, Wi Cheongyeong’s footwork quickened to match.
‘Impressive, as expected.’ Watching their spar from a distance, Bu Eunseol nodded faintly. ‘She’s trying to break through the Extreme Heaven Realm using the Equal Awareness Technique.’
A-yeon’s martial prowess had not yet reached the Extreme Heaven Realm.
Yet, she was displaying skills that seemed to have already set foot in that realm. Analyzing her opponent’s height, physical traits, the direction of the sun and wind—every detail—to discern their techniques.
This was because she was employing the Equal Awareness Technique.
‘Now I understand why she challenged me to a spar.’ With Bu Eunseol’s guidance, Won Semun had mastered various sword arts, becoming an exceptional swordsman.
Jo Namcheon’s Black Poison Demon Art made his body so resilient that even a treasured sword couldn’t scratch his skin.
Yet A-yeon had subdued both in an instant.
She saw through the power of Won Semun’s swordsmanship, identifying the gaps and weaknesses between his techniques to shatter his offense. Against the impervious Jo Namcheon, she unleashed unpredictable sword moves, preventing him from closing the distance and securing victory.
Moreover, she explained the reasons for her victories in detail, imparting profound martial insights to both.
‘She wants me to teach her something as well.’ Her magnanimous attitude was clearly calculated. ‘She’s even cast aside the pride of being the Sword Pavilion’s successor.’
A-yeon’s demeanor was the struggle of a martial artist who had abandoned all pride to ascend to greater heights.
The spirit of a warrior.
Since meeting Bu Eunseol, a fiery martial spirit had ignited within her.
‘Having mastered the Equal Awareness Technique, she’ll gain much from sparring with me.’
The Equal Awareness Technique allowed her to analyze her opponent from multiple angles, predicting their moves and techniques in advance. With this method, she could discern the level of Bu Eunseol’s martial prowess and the true energy he employed.
Clang! Ching!
Meanwhile, the duel between A-yeon and Wi Cheongyeong reached its climax.
Wi Cheongyeong was not only well-versed in dagger-throwing, footwork, and chaotic swordsmanship but also possessed exceptional insight and caution. Though A-yeon had identified the weaknesses of Won Semun and Jo Namcheon in just a dozen moves, her spar with Wi Cheongyeong had already surpassed forty moves.
‘I see.’ Finally spotting Wi Cheongyeong’s opening, A-yeon’s eyes sparkled.
Whoosh!
As she swiftly closed the distance, Wi Cheongyeong quickly launched a dagger. But A-yeon precisely struck the tip of the dagger and thrust her sword toward Wi Cheongyeong’s throat.
Click.
With the sword’s tip at his throat, Wi Cheongyeong raised both hands, conceding defeat.
“I’ve lost.” As Wi Cheongyeong bowed his head, A-yeon clasped her hands in return.
“I learned a lot.”
“But I don’t understand,” Wi Cheongyeong cautiously asked. “How did you block my dagger and aim for my throat in a single move? That should require at least two actions.”
“Your dagger was thrown with perfect precision, without a hint of deviation,” A-yeon replied calmly. “So, I preempted the trajectory of your dagger and executed a swift sword strike. I knew your dagger would aim for my throat with absolute accuracy.”
It became clear that A-yeon had exploited the flawless precision of Wi Cheongyeong’s dagger technique, turning it against him.
“Precision became my own weakness,” Wi Cheongyeong said with a wry smile.
A-yeon responded, “Techniques that are too refined and precise allow the opponent to predict your sword path. You should practice mixing feints and variations to confuse your enemy.”
Having gained significant insight, Wi Cheongyeong clasped his hands.
“Thank you. I’ve learned much.”
“You’re welcome.” With Wi Cheongyeong defeated, Bu Eunseol’s gaze shifted to Myo Cheonwoo.
It was his turn now.
Step, step.
Myo Cheonwoo, who had been standing at a distance, slowly ascended the training platform and clasped his hands.
“I concede defeat.”
“Without even fighting?” A-yeon blinked her large eyes.
Myo Cheonwoo smiled faintly and said, “The palm techniques I’ve recently developed are composed of killing moves unsuitable for sparring.”
Having experienced numerous battles under Bu Eunseol’s command, Myo Cheonwoo’s martial arts had grown dramatically. His palm techniques, in particular, had diverged from the Extinction Palace’s methods, forming a unique style.
Moreover, to wield bare hands against weapons, one must channel intense inner energy. To face a master like A-yeon, a spar would essentially become a life-or-death battle. Seeing her gracious instruction of the other leaders, Myo Cheonwoo had no intention of engaging in a pride-driven spar.
“Then how about facing me with only techniques, without using inner energy?” A-yeon proposed, sensing his reasoning.
Myo Cheonwoo gave a bitter smile. “If I use palm techniques without inner energy, it’s like removing the essence. I’d fear suffering a regrettable defeat to you, Lady A-yeon.”
Though he spoke humbly, Myo Cheonwoo’s aura was in no way inferior to A-yeon’s.
He was stepping aside to allow her to spar with Bu Eunseol.
“I understand,” A-yeon said, realizing his considerate intent, and clasped her hands. “Thank you.”
“Now, only one remains,” Myo Cheonwoo said, turning his head.
There stood Yoo Unryong, dressed in scholar’s robes, dragged to the scene by the other leaders.
“Fine, let’s do this.” Initially, Yoo Unryong had intended to concede like Myo Cheonwoo.
But watching A-yeon’s spar changed his mind.
Not only was her martial prowess exceptional, but he realized she was the perfect opponent to test his newly developed Ten-Section Staff Technique.
“Leader of the Academic Corps, Yoo Unryong. I seek to learn from Lady A-yeon.”
Swish.
At that moment, the Ten-Section Staff unfurled from Yoo Unryong’s sleeve.
Infused with inner energy, it became as rigid as a pole, but normally, its ten jointed sections allowed it to be wielded like a whip.
He was finally ready to showcase its true brilliance.

The Next Day, Yoo Unryong’s Office
Once again, the leaders were gathered there.
This time, however, Yoo Unryong wasn’t working but was engaged in discussion with them.
“Indeed, he deserves a partner with exceptional martial arts.” Yoo Unryong spoke passionately.
A-yeon, the successor of the Sword Pavilion and the next Sword Empress.
Not only was her martial prowess outstanding, but her talent rivaled Bu Eunseol’s.
“She will undoubtedly surpass the greatest woman of the martial world and become a peerless master of the Central Plains,” Yoo Unryong declared confidently.
The leaders, including Myo Cheonwoo, let out murmurs of agreement.
“That makes sense. Both of them are somewhat obsessed with martial arts,” Myo Cheonwoo said.
The other leaders nodded in agreement.
“Her appearance is no less than Lady Yeon’s,” Won Semun added.
If Yeon Soha was the radiant sun illuminating the morning, A-yeon was like moonlight gracing the night sky. Though not counted among the Three Beauties of the World, A-yeon’s beauty was equally remarkable.
“No, that won’t do,” Wi Cheongyeong interjected. “Have you forgotten that the Sword Pavilion is a mysterious sect? How could their successor marry?”
“Oh, right,” Won Semun slapped his forehead.
Yoo Unryong shook his head. “Even nuns of the mysterious sects can leave and marry. There are cases of Sword Pavilion disciples returning to secular life for marriage.”
“But she’s the successor, isn’t she? And she didn’t come here for marriage,” Wi Cheongyeong countered.
Myo Cheonwoo spoke up, “Look at our Lord. His martial arts, character, and status—nothing is lacking. Sure, his cold demeanor is a flaw, but…” With a confident voice, he continued, “With that face and presence, if he pursues her, A-yeon will eventually accept him. Her calm personality makes her a good match, as Yoo Unryong said.”
In truth, the idea of Bu Eunseol pursuing a woman was unthinkable given his character.
But the leaders, oblivious to this, nodded in agreement.
Clap, clap, clap.
Applause erupted once more.
Finally, Bu Eunseol’s partner had been decided.

Bu Eunseol sat in his office, rubbing his temples.
“This is troublesome.” The situation caused by Chief Instructor Yeop Hyocheon was spiraling out of control.
His desk was now piled high with portrait books and envelopes.
These weren’t from Baek Yeon, the Peongan Corps Leader.
As rumors spread through the martial world that Bu Eunseol was seeking a bride, prestigious clans and factions had sent marriage proposals.
Fortunately, his appearance wasn’t as widely known as his reputation. If his peerless beauty, like moonlight scattered on a river, had been widely revealed?
Majeon would have been paralyzed by visits from demonic clans for some time.
“Let’s deal with what’s in front of me first.”
Today was the day of his spar with A-yeon.
Originally, A-yeon had planned to spar with Bu Eunseol immediately after defeating Yoo Unryong.
But Yoo Unryong’s unexpected tenacity had exhausted her energy. Since she also needed to transcribe the Five Poisons Sect’s records stored in the Secret Pavilion to deliver to the Sword Pavilion, they had agreed to spar after a day’s rest.
At that moment, a trembling voice came from outside.
“Excuse me, my Lord.”
“What is it?”
“The Deputy Leader requests your presence.”
“Deputy Leader?” Bu Eunseol’s expression turned puzzled.
Hadn’t he gone to Hangzhou with Dan So-ok for recuperation? When did he return?
“Very well. Tell him I’ll be there shortly.”
Leaving his office, Bu Eunseol headed straight to the guest hall. There sat a towering middle-aged man with a furious expression. His skin was slightly dark, and his eyes carried the majesty of Mount Tai.
It was none other than Dan Wolhon.
“Deputy Leader.” Bu Eunseol clasped his hands and bowed respectfully.
“Hmph!” Snorting, Dan Wolhon stood abruptly, approached Bu Eunseol, and spoke in a low voice. “Are you trying to provoke me now?”
“What do you mean?”
“You think I’d let you fool around because I refused to give permission?” Breathing heavily, Dan Wolhon roared like a temple bell. “Do you think I’d fall for such a petty trick?”
“Deputy Leader.”
“No way. Absolutely not.” Trembling with rage, Dan Wolhon brought his stone-like face close to Bu Eunseol’s. “I will never forgive anyone who makes our So-ok cry.”
“Deputy Leader, there seems to be a misunderstanding. I…”
“Be quiet!” Dan Wolhon appeared to be wrestling with some deep dilemma, then raised three fingers—middle, ring, and index.
“Three years.” With a deeply aggrieved expression, he thrust his fingers close to Bu Eunseol’s face and repeated, “Three years.”
His bloodshot eyes glared as he spoke.
“Three years should be enough… right?”
“What do you mean?”
“Why are you in such a rush? Can’t you wait just three years?” Roaring, Dan Wolhon turned his head sharply. “No more! I need time to prepare my heart!”
Muttering incoherently and issuing bizarre threats, Dan Wolhon glared at Bu Eunseol with a mix of anger and grievance before storming out.
“…” Bu Eunseol stared after him with a vacant gaze.
Only then did he realize that the rumor of seeking a bride had reached Dan Wolhon’s ears.
‘Chief Instructor!’
If Bu Eunseol were the leader of Majeon now, he would have dealt with Yeop Hyocheon first.
‘What are you scheming?’ Bu Eunseol had much to do.
He had secured the support of the Heaven and Earth Severing Sect, the Affectionate Blossom Sect, and the support of Hell’s Blood Fortress through a recent event.
Yet, he still hadn’t reconciled with the other ten demonic factions. To spread rumors of seeking a bride so recklessly in such a situation?
“Ugh.” Feeling a heavy weight in his chest, Bu Eunseol stepped outside, heading toward the Crimson Blossom Pavilion.
He needed fresh air to clear his complicated thoughts.
How long had he walked? Arriving at the Crimson Blossom Pavilion, he gazed blankly at the flowers fluttering in the breeze.
“My Lord.” A maid hurried up to him. “Lady Jin, the Ceremonial Officer, has come to the pavilion and requests your presence.”
“Her?” Bu Eunseol couldn’t understand.
Jin Seol. Why was she seeking him?
Arriving at the guest hall, he found a beautiful woman in peach-colored robes sitting demurely where Dan Wolhon had been. It was Jin Seol.
“Lady Jin.” As Bu Eunseol approached and clasped his hands, she returned a light bow.
“My Lord.”
“What brings you here so suddenly?”
“I heard the Chief Instructor offered my Four Stars to you.”
“Ah, that was without my consent…”
“It’s fine. I have no intention of entering a betrothal with anyone yet.” Jin Seol looked at Bu Eunseol with a cold expression. “But to bring women into the Secret Pavilion before those rumors have settled—isn’t that a bit hasty?”
Reading her expression, Bu Eunseol immediately understood the situation.
Jin Seol believed he had deliberately spread scandals with other women to reject the Chief Instructor’s proposal. From her perspective, already entangled in rumors with him, this must have felt like a significant insult.
She had come to confront him about it.
“There were circumstances. It was never meant to disrespect you, Lady Jin.”
“Circumstances?” Bu Eunseol hesitated.
He couldn’t figure out where to begin explaining.
“For starters, Lady A-yeon of the Sword Pavilion is resting to recover her strength for a spar with me.”
“And the Young Palace Master of the Divine Maiden Palace?”
“She…” As Bu Eunseol took a deep breath to explain, a voice interrupted.
“Excuse me.” A stunning woman in snow-white robes entered the guest hall.
It was Yeon Soha.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to intrude… I just overheard my name while passing by.” The guest hall of the Secret Pavilion was not a place one could casually pass by.
Clearly, Yeon Soha had come upon hearing that Jin Seol was meeting Bu Eunseol.
“You must be Lady Jin.”
A woman’s intuition is formidable.
In an instant, Yeon Soha recognized Jin Seol as the woman involved in the betrothal rumors with Bu Eunseol.
“Pleased to meet you. I’m Yeon Soha, Young Palace Master of the Divine Maiden Palace.” Removing her veil, Yeon Soha bowed politely. “I’ve heard there’s a beautiful flower and a sparkling jewel in Majeon.”
With gentle yet confident eyes, she looked at Jin Seol.
“Meeting you in person, I see those rumors were not exaggerated.”
In the martial world, Jin Seol, known as the Flower of Majeon, and Dan So-ok, called the Silver Scale Jewel, were collectively referred to as the Twin Phoenixes of Flower and Jewel.
“For one of the Three Beauties of the World to say such a thing, it’s almost too much to bear,” Jin Seol said humbly, though her expression remained cold.
She had noticed that Yeon Soha deliberately removed her veil to greet her.
It was an attempt to assert dominance.
Poor Bu Ensol
