This Dungeon Grew Mushrooms – Chapter 488

Digestion Problems

Sword Saint!

How could you just die like that!

slurp…

While there was a gap, Lin Jun quickly sent mycelium that had been waiting nearby to crawl over the Sword Saint’s body (whose panel had already vanished) and rapidly decompose it. Then he had the fungal mat devour itself and swiftly retract underground.

Back then, on opposite sides, they had fought until the dungeon itself nearly collapsed!

Lin Jun had endlessly replayed that earth-shattering battle worthy of the Mushroom Annals, never imagining… uh… *burp*…

As expected of the Sword Saint; so many good things…

Wait!

Is something missing? The most important one?!

Where is my [Sword Extremity]?!

Switching to [Insight] view.

Under Greed’s frenzied devouring, the Sword Saint’s soul had been slurped clean, not a trace of impurity left.

Except for [Sword Extremity].

If a soul was an ice-cream cone, skills were the chocolate coating; Lin Jun could lick them off with a couple of swipes, leaving nothing behind.

But [Sword Extremity] was the wooden stick. Getting it out was proving… tricky.

For the first time in his mushroom life, Lin Jun was choking on a soul.

The situation was strange.

Because the plundering wasn’t complete, Greed still bound the Sword Saint’s soul, preventing it from joining the world’s recycling bin like other fully decomposed souls.

Lin Jun had one end of [Sword Extremity] in his mouth, slowly digesting, while the other end was still attached to the Sword Saint’s soul, dangling like a keychain.

Still, progress was just slow. It would be his eventually.

On the entire battlefield, the two things Lin Jun wanted most were [Sword Extremity] and the divine artifact [Blood Calamity] on the Emperor’s head.

Now that [Sword Extremity] was confirmed as a duck already in his mouth, he finally relaxed.

As for the Emperor’s artifact… there would be chances later.

Actually, he quite wanted [Envy] too. With it, jumping tiers would probably be easy.

Unfortunately, titles had never been plunderable. He wasn’t sure if the Seven Sins were special, but to avoid disappointment, Lin Jun decided not to get his hopes up.

Occasionally Lin Jun reflected: was his habit of dragging every good thing he saw into his mushroom nest a bit too greedy?

But then he thought, wasn’t this also a kind of responsibility?

Divine artifacts and skills should belong to the virtuous.

Looking across the world, who was more worthy than him, who aspired to save it?

After finishing his business, Lin Jun turned his attention back to the front.

Number One, Number Two, and the others had already returned as grayed-out souls. Even the fastest Number Five hadn’t escaped.

This Wrath was clearly abnormal. She seemed to have lost her mind yet still moved with clear purpose.

Everything in her path, demon or human, was torn apart casually.

Yet her direction never wavered, heading straight east toward Threehill City.

It was hard to imagine a mindless being could move with such single-minded focus.

And her three main attributes kept skyrocketing along the way.

The growth had no apparent cause. Even without gaining experience from killing, her power rose at a terrifying rate, as if an inexhaustible fountain of strength lay within her.

From a mere level 17 who hadn’t even reached Bronze adventurer tier, her raw attributes had already surpassed most dukes.

And they were still accelerating.

Lin Jun didn’t believe the world handed out power this easily. The whole thing reeked of strangeness.

Fortunately, this obviously abnormal Wrath had already run into the old bat and looked ready to become dessert. Lin Jun happily waited.

On the other side, Pink Puchi had been herded into the mycelial tunnels by her two bodyguards.

The three Puchis were linked like candied hawthorn, Inanna sandwiched in the middle. Number Ten led the way; Number Four brought up the rear to prevent Pink Puchi from lagging.

Letting Number Four lead had been Number Ten’s idea. It really didn’t trust its reckless sibling’s sense of direction.

As for Alama and Lorenzo.

With Lin Jun deliberately reducing Puchi numbers on the field, facing the worsening situation, the two dukes—no matter how unwilling—could only retreat for now.

Their remaining troops were no longer fit for battle.

If the Puchis hadn’t covered their retreat and blocked Xenophon’s pursuit, total annihilation wouldn’t have been impossible.

Outside Threehill City.

Visarius stared at the figure rampaging through the demon ranks, a trace of confusion in his scarlet eyes.

This ragged woman could tear heavily armored demon soldiers apart with her bare hands, yet her fighting style was utterly devoid of technique.

The contrast between her strength and crude methods left him baffled as to where she had come from.

A human trump card?

Honestly, looking at her, Visarius found it hard to believe she was anyone’s ace.

Though her raw physical stats surpassed his own, she fought with no skill. In a real fight, she probably couldn’t even beat that pigheaded Xenophon. As a final weapon, she was laughably inadequate.

“Your Highness!” Watching his men take losses, one-armed Earn raised his weapon. “Allow me—”

“No need. Reorganize the formation and continue the siege.” Visarius stopped him with a raised hand, lightly touching the claw marks on his chest. Though they hindered him, dealing with a brainless brute was still child’s play. “This uninvited guest—I will entertain personally.”

With a casual wave, blood bats once again swept the battlefield like a storm, instantly engulfing the berserk figure.

The swarm formed a spinning dark-red vortex. Though ripping impacts and beastly roars constantly echoed from within, no matter how she struggled, she could not break the cage of bats.

Seeing this, Earn decisively took command, rallying the demons to reform the lines disrupted by the Sword Saint and Emperor’s clash, determined to crush humanity’s last strength.

A long while later, Earn finally had everything arranged.

At the same moment, the blood-bat vortex suddenly contracted inward, then exploded with a deafening boom.

“Is it over?”

Earn turned to look. A black shadow plummeted from the sky.

As it passed, he quickly snatched it—one-handed, it was a head.

When he saw what it was, horror filled him.

“Your Highness?!”

“ROOOAAAAR—”

The blood-bat prison shattered completely. Wrath stood amid a rain of blood, hands clutching Visarius’s ruined body.

With a wet ripping sound, she tore the Prince in half.

She didn’t pause for an instant.

Blood-soaked feet crushed the ground. She became a crimson lightning bolt that pierced straight through the demon ranks.

Wherever she passed, demon soldiers were smashed aside like bowling pins, limbs and armor fragments spinning through the air.

Earn had barely raised his weapon before his remaining arm was pulverized by the passing figure. Spitting blood, he crashed into a pile of corpses.

After the rampage, the humanoid monster turned toward Threehill City.

“Not enough… I need to kill… more…”

“Oh! I know these gray mushrooms; they’re edible.” Facing adventurers who came to pick his mushrooms, Lin Jun silently sprouted a pale blue mushroom among the gray ones.
