Far North Icefield.
A rock shot out with a sonic boom, like a bullet. The rag-like Voice Puffshroom was smashed to bits.
But—
“Your struggle’s pointless. Death to me is just a blink and a restart. Your fate was sealed the moment you stepped onto this icefield with bad intentions!”
Voice Puffshrooms, with no skills or fighting power, were nothing to Lin Jun. With mycelium, he could make one in seconds—endless.
The distant magic cannon fired again, this time with a longer gap.
Galen dodged once more.
“Death? Just puppet tricks and spooky nonsense!” he spat.
After a brief moment of doubt, Galen regained his warrior’s calm.
He wasn’t like some vampires, climbing levels by living long. He rose through real battles!
Betrayed and trapped? Fine. Making noise with puppets to mess with his head was a cheap move!
Things looked okay for now. For some reason, the enemy hadn’t brought enough firepower to kill him.
Those invisible mushrooms were annoying, popping up and exploding where he stepped.
But with his strong defenses, they couldn’t do real damage.
Looking at the scene, he could rush the cannon, smash it, and take out everyone else.
Galen flipped backward, leaping high to dodge another slower cannon shot. He landed and ran—he was out!
He was hot-headed but no fool. A fool wouldn’t survive to level 60!
If this was Gray’s plan, there were likely more traps waiting if he charged in.
He wasn’t taking that risk!
He’d go back, expose Gray’s sneaky plot to the clan leader, and be done!
“Where you going? Big as a bear, but you run from a fight?!” that gross voice taunted.
Galen smirked.
They were panicking because he was leaving!
The more they tried to anger him with words, the more it proved running was the right call!
A blue magic glow flashed. Starfire raised her staff, raising an ice wall in Galen’s path.
He didn’t slow, crashing right through it.
The wall shattered like it was hit by a boulder!
As his foot hit the broken ice, a sharp whistle came from the side—Shòu’s spear, thrown with full force!
A thud. The spear struck Galen’s forehead, making him stumble. Blood poured down half his face.
But he just shook his head, charged again, barely slowing!
Shòu and Starfire froze, stunned by Galen’s terrifying strength. The wounded Galen was now filled with rage!
“You trash! Just wait! I’ll deal with Gray, that traitor, then come back and crush your whole tribe to dust! Run north if you dare! I’ll hunt you down and tear you apart!” Galen’s roar echoed in the cold wind as his figure shrank, vanishing into the snowy horizon.
Shòu watched him go, then glanced at worried Starfire. In the Mycelial Network, he asked, “Boss, why the cup-throwing signal? Couldn’t you just command us through the network? If that first cannon hit him unaware, maybe…”
“Stupid! What do you know, you hick!”
“Ugh…” Shòu didn’t like questioning the boss, but letting this Empire envoy escape was trouble waiting to happen.
Lin Jun wasn’t done. “And… who said we can’t stop him?”
“Huh?”
Before the words settled, a black shadow zipped through the air like a ghost!
A wild gust flipped over the Jida machines holding the Resonance Cannon in the distance!
Mushroom Garden’s fastest legend—Little Black—struck!
Little Black chased for a while before Louisa, in bat form, caught up slowly.
They started together, but she couldn’t outfly Little Black. Norris and the Puffshroom army trailed even farther behind!
Lin Jun had spotted Galen through the Mycelial Network, but only an hour in advance.
The demonkin tribe had little fighting power normally, so he pulled forces from Mushroom Garden No. 3 and barely whipped up a Resonance Cannon.
If Galen fought to the death, the demonkin would likely take losses.
As for escaping? He couldn’t outrun the Mycelial Network’s reach!
Like Lin Jun said, Galen’s fate was sealed the moment he stepped onto the icefield with bad intentions!
On the icefield, Galen ran without stopping.
No pursuers behind, the path ahead clear—he seemed to escape easily.
Easier than expected. What was Gray thinking?
No matter. Once he got back, Gray was finished!
“You didn’t think you actually got away, did you?”
That voice again!
How? How could it be here?!
The sudden mushroom voice made Galen glance at another Voice Puffshroom.
In that split-second of distraction—
A black shadow, like lightning tearing the sky, dove from above with killing intent and a sonic boom!
“What?!”
Realizing he’d been tricked, Galen tried to counter, but two black-scaled dragon claws, strong enough to rip steel, grabbed his arms!
The high-speed impact slammed Galen into the frozen ground, carving a ten-meter trench. Ice and rocks flew!
Golden slit eyes gleamed coldly in the swirling snow!
“A killer move… a dragonkin?!”
Galen fought the pain, spitting blood at Little Black’s face!
Little Black dodged instinctively. In that moment, Galen’s full-force kick slammed into its gut, sending it flying!
Galen struggled up, arms torn and bleeding, bones faintly cracking from the grip!
That one clash, plus the ground slam, hurt him worse than all prior attacks combined!
Little Black flipped mid-air, its wide dragon wings flapping, diving back without pause!
Galen roared, his black tattoos glowing at max, pushing his defenses to the limit, and swung his fist!
But even at similar levels, he couldn’t match Little Black’s speed!
His heavy punch missed, exposing flaws. After a few failed swings, Galen switched to full defense.
But just defending never wins a fight!
Another dragon claw tore through the air! Galen’s eyes flashed with resolve—he didn’t dodge!
Rip—!
The black claw pierced his right chest!
Pain blackened his vision, blood gushing from his mouth!
But he seized the moment, grabbing Little Black’s claw with one hand.
His left hand, charged with all his remaining strength and explosive skills, smashed at Little Black’s head!
Bang—!
A dull thud. Little Black was hurled back, crashing into an icy rock slope, sending stones and ice crumbling!
The claw’s withdrawal ripped Galen further.
Shaking, he used his working left hand to pull a barely intact metal box from his chest, taking out a high-quality healing potion.
Without it, he’d bleed out soon.
Four Puffshrooms appeared around him, their invisible sonic vibrations locking onto the fragile glass bottle!
Buzz—
Crack—
The sharp sound of breaking glass echoed in the silent icefield.
Staring at the spilled potion mixed with glass shards, Galen froze for two seconds.
Another Voice Puffshroom appeared at his feet. “Well… you might still lick it up in time.”
(End of Chapter)
Lin really needs some heavy hitter units. Knight isnt really upto the task and relying on black all the time isnt a viable strategy either.
